Junelle Johnson, 88, of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, formerly of Waterloo, died there on Monday, February 15, 2010. She was born on June 12, 1921 in Grundy Center, Iowa, daughter of Thomas and Ella Seivers Johnson. Junelle and her family moved to Waterloo when she was six months old where she graduated from West High School in 1939 and then Gates Business College. Junelle married Afton C. Johnson on May 28, 1950 at the Waterloo First United Methodist Church; he died in 1962. She operated a Comptometer in the payroll department for John Deere; did civil service work during WWII in Texas and Kansas; and worked in the advertising department at the Waterloo Courier doing art and layout. While at the Courier she made a pencil sketch of Waterloo First United Methodist Church and her legs were the legs featured in the Walker and Fox Shoes ads. Junelle was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church. She was also active with PTA and a Girl Scout Leader. As demonstrated by her work at the Courier she was very crafty and artistic. Junelle is survived by her daughter Debbie Foulk and her husband Jeff of Waterloo, grandson Scott Foulk of St. Paul, and granddaughter Sara Foulk of Chicago. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Ruth Fergason and Clara May Considine.
