Evelyn Melick, 90, of the Cedar Falls Western Home Community, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. Evelyn was born May 26, 1919, at Hanlontown, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Hazel Calhoun McNelly. She married Clyde Melick August 22, 1936, in Waterloo at Walnut Street Baptist Church. Evelyn was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church since age 13. She and Clyde loved Walnut Ridge, she served on the Sunday School Council, taught Sunday School for many years, was active in mission work and active in Joy Circle. She and Clyde volunteered for ten years at the Iowa Regular Baptist Camp in Ventura, Iowa. She loved reading Christian Fiction. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 73 years, Clyde; son David and his wife Mary Melick of Waterloo; daughter Kathy and her husband Patrick Joyce of Evansdale; 7 grandchildren: David Kugel, Mike (Wynter) Kugel, Steven Kugel, Tim Joyce, Dennis (Julie) Rowell, Ellen Rowell, and Roxanne (Robert) Taylor; 7 great grandchildren: Charmaine Taylor, Kiara Kugel, Brittany Kugel, Thomas Kugel, Taylor Kugel, Kelvin Taylor, and Logan Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Michael Melick, sister Betty Lawless, and 2 brothers H.L. McNelly and Cecil McNelly.
