Ivan R. "Ike" Stanford, Sr., 77, of Evansdale, Iowa died at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center on Thursday, March 11, 2010.
Ivan Russell Stanford was born June 25, 1932 in Waterloo, son of Edward and Josephine Johnston Stanford. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and received an honorable discharge in 1952.
Ivan married Gladys Postel on February 1, 1953 in Waterloo.
He retired as superintendent from Construction Machinery Co.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 57 years Gladys Stanford of Evansdale; son Ivan Jr. and his wife Shelly of Waterloo, daughter Connie Abben and her husband Jim of Evansdale; son John Sr. and his wife Kathy of Waterloo; daughter Susan Mitchell and her husband Bob of Evansdale; ten grandchildren: Renee, Tera, Matt, Misty, Brooke, Katy, Michelle, John Jr., Amanda and Jacy; twelve great grandchildren and sister Zelma Frickson and her husband Bill of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
