Biography

Donna M. Anderson, 81, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital of natural causes.

Donna Mae was born September 2, 1935 in Waterloo the daughter of Alfred Joseph and Carriellen Lois Lane Rohmer.  She graduated from East High School in 1953.  She married Harold “Andy” H. Anderson December 26, 1953 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. He died November 11, 2006.  Donna was the bookkeeper at Eagles and then Econofoods.

She was a member of Grace Reformed Church where she belonged to the women’s club, sang in the choir, helped with children’s church and attended bible study.  She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies.  She loved to bowl and spend time with Andy on the road with the Shriner’s Clowns.  She has collected over 700 salt and pepper shakers over the years.  Donna enjoyed spending time embroidering.

Survivors include two sons: Brad Anderson and Greg (Cheryl) Anderson, both of Waterloo; three daughters: Jody (John) Mason of Eldridge, Terrill (Lon) Karr of Traer, and Wendy (Shawn) Ryan of Bettendorf;  11 grandchildren: Connor and Logan Ryan; Alexandrea Ryan-Trumpy; Aaron and Allison Anderson; Hannah (Josh) Karr; Spencer (Morgan) Karr; Marshall (Nayeli) Karr; Molly (Eric) Karr; Justine (Kenny) Womboldt; and Jeremy (Stephanie) Schaack; 6 great‑grandchildren: Mason, Haley, and Emily Schaack; Savannah Trumpy; Penelope “Poppy” Womboldt; Scarlett Ramirez and two more expected in July.  She is also survived by a brother Richard (Marguerite) Rohmer of San Diego, California.

    To all you "kids",  You have my deepest sympathy. Your Mom always treated me with kindness and respect. I enjoyed bumping into her pretty regularly over the past 40+ years. She was a wonderful lady who will be missed.
