Biography Information
Marvin E. Lampman, 94, of Waterloo died at Friendship Village Retirement Center on Monday, August 29, 2011. Marvin Earl Lampman was born June 15, 1917 in Sisseton, South Dakota, son of Earl and Winifred Plant Lampman.
He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1938 and attended Hawkeye Community College for blueprint reading. Mr. Lampman served in U.S. Air Force during WWII receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant.
He married Alberta M. Bruner on March 22, 1946 in Waterloo.
Mr. Lampman was employed with John Deere for 40 years retiring from the Westfield Ave site in 1980.
He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and an elder and involved with Session and Worship. Mr. Lampman was a founding member of and helped build St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the American Legion and active in the Boy Scouts.
Mr. Lampman was a man who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping. He was also very athletic and liked to bowl, go golfing and play softball.
Mr. Lampman is survived by his wife Alberta of Waterloo; son Charles M. and his wife Nancy of Apollo Beach, Florida; son Steven D. and his wife Amy of Waterloo; four grandchildren Amy M. Loiselle and her husband Mark, Julie A. Stearsman and her husband Scott, Brian S. Lampman, and Shelly A. Frein and her husband Thomas; and four great-grandsons: Alexander Schremser, Ryan Stearsman, Caden Loiselle and Samuel Stearsman.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
