Mardean was a good nurse - and such a very good friend. She taught me many things during the night shifts we worked together in Pediatrics. We stashed many items of clean laundry so that we would be sure to have what we needed when we needed it! And we had some very funny incidents during those nights -- when everyone was supposed to be asleep! Rob--Remember when you called to talk to her and I couldn't convince you that she wasn't at work that night??? Where WAS her purse???!!!!

Harold, Deb, Rob & all -- we're so very sorry to hear about your loss. Hannah still talks about 'that lady that had all those cookies' from our Christmas visit to AZ a few years ago. She spread joy to everyone she met!

So sorry to hear of Mardean's passing. She was a wonderful nurse, and I learned so much from her when I had my first job in nursing at Shoitz Pediatrics, and then again when she worked with the PALS program many years later. I remember many stories told about Rob as a child in particular as he was about 12 or so when I worked the p.m. shift and Mardean followed me on nights. She was so very talented with her crafts. I still have the tatted snowman she made for me for Christmas one year, and it still hangs on our family tree. She will be greatly missed. Wish I was able to come to the services but I am scheduled to work 7A to 7p on both days. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Miriam (Fairbanks) Kauten

So sorry to hear about Mardean's death. She was a very special person. I enjoyed quilting with her in Mesa, AZ. She was so very patient and we enjoyed having her with us. She always had a smile on her face. She was a very good quilter and also it was fun to see her do her hardanger. She will be missed by all of us in the quilt group.
