Biography Information
Edmond R. Peterson, 98, of Waterloo, died at Friendship Village Retirement Center Thursday, September 22, 2011 of natural causes. Edmond Robert Peterson was born March 16, 1913 in Alden, Iowa, son of Charlie and Jane Hamilton Peterson.
He married Berniece Weber June 12, 1937 at the First Presbyterian Church in Dows, Iowa.
Mr. Peterson graduated from Alden High School in 1930. He was a Supervisor in the Ham Boning Department at Rath Packing, retiring in 1978 after 41 years.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1937 and served as an elder and a deacon. Mr. Peterson was a member of Toastmasters and Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife; daughters: Darlene (Reuben) Drefs of Toledo, Ohio, and Janet (Jim) Ross of Iowa City; son Gordon (Lisa) of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren: Dwight (Justine) Drefs, Debra (Jim) Asbury, Julia (Tom) Ross, Jeffrey Ross, Hanna Peterson, and Halle Peterson; five great‑grandchildren; sister Esther Nachazel of Alden; and brother Erwin (Bonnie) of Iowa Falls.;
Mr. Peterson is preceded in death by sisters Evelyn Olson, Erma Rupp, Elva Cecola and Elsie Crabtree and brother Eugene.
