Biography Information

Mike Chrasta, 87of Waterloo, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Monday, October 10, 2011 of natural causes.

He was born February 28, 1924 in Toledo, Iowa, son of Frank and Mary Smat Chrasta. Mike graduated from Toledo High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa. He was a Gunnery Instructor in the Navy during WWII receiving an honorable discharge.

Mike married Rose Sprio on July 4, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. He worked at Rath Packing Co. and later at John Deere PEC for 33 years.

Mike was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and Cedar Falls Amvets.

He is survived by his wife Rose, daughter: Paula (Randy) McDougall of Cedar Falls, sons Mike (Kathy) of Wylie, Texas and Todd of Waterloo, three grandchildren, and sister Darlene Crozier of Phoenix, Arizona.

Mike is preceded in death by his son Tommy, daughter Holly and sister Helen Ernst.
