Biography Information

Edward "Eddie" Louis Niedert, 63, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at his home Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from complications of cancer.

He was born August 13, 1948 in Waterloo, the son of Fredrick and Leona McBride Niedert.

Eddie married Patricia Love in 1966; they later divorced. He married Sandy Vessels in 1980 in Kentucky; she passed away. He married Patricia Bergeron on August 7, 1992 in Waterloo at First Lutheran Church.

He retired from the United States Army as Master Sergeant in 1988. Later, Eddie was a bus driver for 17 years with Metropolitan Transit Authority, retiring in 2009.

He attended Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Past Master of and member of Martin Lodge #624, and member of El Kahir Shrine consistory, Evansdale Amvets, and Waterloo Eagles Club.

Eddie is survived by his wife Patricia Niedert of Waterloo; daughter Crystal (David) Edwards of Elizabethtown, KY; daughter Jennifer Bergeron of Waterloo; daughter Shanel (Tim) Schares of Dunkerton; daughter Sara (Trey) Cornwell of Waterloo; son John Vessels of Elizabethtown, KY; son Edward (Kim) Niedert II of Quasqueton, IA; son Michael (Tammi) Bergeron of Kingston, OK; 22 grandchildren and 3 great‑grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Diana Niedert of Waterloo; brother Lonnie (Pam) Niedert of Waterloo; brother Ted Niedert of New Hartford; and brother Larry (Sydney) McBride of Waterloo.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
