Biography Information

Anna "Ann" Dorothea Meyer was born October 10, 1930 on the Nolten-Meyer farm near Reinbeck, daughter of Herman and Dora Petersen Meyer,
and Anni Petersen Meyer, her stepmother (biological aunt) who raised her. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1949.
Ann met Donald C. Mosher in the spring of 1949 and the two were engaged in October of that year. They were married on June 4, 1950, in Waterloo at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She had worked at Woolworth's and Iowa Public Service before being married.  For 40 years the couple farmed by Aurora, Maynard and Sumner, retiring to Waterloo in 1990. They moved to Windhaven of Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls in June of 2011, the month they celebrated 61 years together.

Ann came to know Christ as her personal Lord and Savior as a result of dating Donald and his witness when she was nineteen. While a member of the First Baptist Church of Sumner, Ann taught Sunday School, was head of the KYB club (Know Your Bible), and was active in the Women's Missionary Society and Vacation Bible School.  Upon moving to Waterloo, Ann became a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church. There she was a Deaconess, part of the Golden Circle Sunday School class and she helped with Awana Club by listening to children say Bible verses.

Two of the most important things in Ann's life were her faith and her family. At Christmas, not a present was opened without singing Happy Birthday to Jesus first.  Ann always had loving arms, an open heart and words of comfort and strength.  She enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to sew, having her grandchildren sleep over and explore the farm, going to the state fair and state girl's basketball tournaments. Every birthday was a celebration with exactly the right number of candles on the cake and the number of years written on the side.

Ann died on October 14, 2011, four days after her 81st birthday at her home in Windhaven of natural causes.

If Ann could tell us one last thing it would be to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour because she had comfort in knowing that when she left this world she would be in heaven with her Lord and free from her pain.

She is survived by: her husband of Cedar Falls; two sons, Steven H. of Sumner and Larry C. (Vonda) of Bondurant; a daughter, Nancy E. (James) Lalk of Sumner;
seven grandchildren, Brian Mosher of Dallas, Angela (Blaine) Ferguson of Edmonton, AB, Canada, Bradley (Sarah) Lalk and Carrie Lalk, all of Waterloo, Christopher Mosher of Ankeny and Joshua and Isaac Mosher, both of Bondurant; five great-grandchildren, Lillian, Lydia and Lance Ferguson, and Lucas and Tate Lalk; and a sister-in-law, Gerda Petersen of Chicago.

She is preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Terry Lynn Mosher; a half sister, Dora Bleeker; and a half brother, Werner Petersen

...
Oh Aunt Ann- the wonerdful memories I have of coming to the farm for a visit! She always made the best meals- it was at your table where I first learned of putting ice cubes in milk & the largest meal of the day was at noon when there was farm work to be done. Remember Randy swinging on the gate & falling in the manure? And Larry & I sitting up on a tractor & praying that a calf about to be born would be ok. And Steven throwing me off the hay wagon & me sitting in the field till the wagon came back around. I remember your strong relgious faith & going to church with the family a few times & going into Sumner with you & Nancy & you bought me beads to make into a braeclet. It was a young girl's great time & I will never forget it, even though I was a "city slicker" to my cousins :) Rest in peace Aunt Ann- & tell my Mom hi for me.
