Biography Information
Glen A. Johnson, 83, of Waterloo, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Thursday, October 27, 2011.
Glen Arnold Johnson was born July 15, 1928 in Ortonville, Minnesota, son of Oscar W. and Anna Marie Johnson.
He graduated from Ortonville High School in 1946 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Engineering in 1958 from North Dakota State. Glen served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Glen married Irene M. Larson on December 27, 1956 in Doran, Minnesota.
He worked for John Deere from 1958 to 1984, retiring as a Senior Engineer and taught at UNI for several years.
Glen was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was past president of Waterloo Optimist Club, a member of Waterloo Technical Society, Society of Automotive Engineers, American Legion, treasurer for Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternal #8641, and past president of Lutheran Men in Mission of Northeast Iowa.
He is survived by his wife Irene Johnson of Waterloo, daughter Wanda Johnson of Plymouth, Minnesota, son Gregory Johnson of Washington, Maine, and sister Ruth Hoernemann of Ortonville. Glen is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Carl A., Harold J., Warner R. and LeRoy Johnson.
