Biography Information

Norma Mae Cornwell, 82, Waterloo, Iowa, died at Cedar Falls Health Care Center on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 of natural causes.

She was born December 2, 1928 in Sumner, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Elsie Aders Faust. She grew up on her parents farm near Sumner and attended school in Sumner..  Norma married Gordon D. Cornwell on December 13, 1954 in Waterloo. He died April 30, 1981. She was a waitress at Cedar Falls Maid‑Rite for 15 years, retiring in 1970.

Norma enjoyed camping when her children were younger. Her mother had died at an early age and Norma had helped care for the family. She was devoted to her family, taking care of others for over forty years. She and Shirley were not only sisters but best friends as well. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. It was all these traits, all this story of her life, which led Norma to be known as such a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Norma is survived by son Delbert (Tracy) Cornwell of Texas; son Ron (Shelly) Cornwell of Waterloo; daughter Barbara (Russell) Holven of Waterloo; three grandchildren: Amy (Mark) Van Der Kamp of Prairie City, Iowa, Danny (Sara) Holven of Parkersburg, Iowa, and Adam (Amber) Holven of Faribault, Minnesota; six great-grandchildren: Blake Van Der Kamp, Hailey and Andrew Holven and Dylan, Owen, and Morgan Holven. ...
I am so sorry for your loss. May "the God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) comfort and soothe your heart. His promises, found in the Holy Scriptures, can offer much hope. It assures us at John 5:28,29 that our loved ones will be remembered and brought back to life in the resurrection. Please allow God's Word to strengthen you and help you to endure this most difficult time.

We was sorry to hear about the passing of your loved one. Death may cast a shadow over you as you go about your daily life. Your love one’s death brings you face-to-face with the fact that they are gone too soon. While you call to mind the happy memories, you may also remember the enormity of the loss. But, "Do not let your hearts be troubled". (John 14:27) May you find comfort as the "the last enemy", death will be done away with. (1 Corinthians 15:25, 26). Let this time be a tribute to their wonderful life. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
