Biography Information

Yvonne M. “Bonnie” Meyer, 86, of  Waterloo, died at  Ravenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center  Thursday, November 24, 2011 of natural causes.

She was born September 21, 1925 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, daughter of Julius and Adeline Burke Boardman.

Bonnie married Merlin Meyer May 27, 1947 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque. He died June 10, 2002.

She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque in 1942 and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing with an RN degree in 1946. Bonnie was an RN at Mercy, Xavier, and Finley Hospitals in Dubuque, and private practice.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she helped during Fall Festival. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading books and magazines, decorating her home and gardening.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters: Heidi (Doug King) Ehlers of Waterloo and Mimi (Mark Swyers) Meyer of Cedar Falls, son‑in‑law Scott Evans of Waterloo, granddaughter   Heather (Chris) Wells of Cedar Falls, great‑grandchildren: Zachary and Maegan Wells, and sisters: Shirley (Gene) Campbell of  Ft. Worth, Texas, Madonna Fairfield of Keokuk, and Lynn Milroy of East Dubuque, Illinois.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gregory Meyer, daughter Nikki Evans, and brother James Boardman.
