Biography Information

Joan Carrol Weed Kriz, 69, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at her home on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 of natural causes.

She was born December 1, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Weed and Shirley and Harold Bravender. Joan graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1960.

She married Max Kriz on June 10, 1961 at Grace Methodist Church in Waterloo. Joan worked for Waterloo Community Schools Administration in several departments over 31 years and retired in 2002. She was also a member of Grace Methodist Church.

Joan is survived by her husband, Max; sons, Jeff C. (Lisa) of Waterloo and Michael A. (Amy) of Cedar Rapids, and five grandchildren: Joshua, Chad, Brittni, Miranda and Patrick Kriz. She is also survived by her mother, Shirley Bravender of Waterloo; three brothers: Robert C. Weed of Britt, Iowa, Craig (Valerie) Bravender of Waterloo, and Dan (Karen) Bravender of Nampa, Idaho; sisters, Renee (Tom) Lloyd and Candy (Jim) Hundley, both of Waverly, Iowa; niece, Dawn Weed of South Haven, Minnesota; nephew Jeremy Weed of Clear Water, Minnesota; and other nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her fathers, Charles Weed and Harold Bravender.
