Biography Information

Paul B. Loomis, 98, of NewAldaya Lifescapes formerly of Waterloo, died at his home Friday, December 23, 2011.  Paul was born November 6, 1913 in Vinton, Iowa the son of John Wesley and Amy Charlotte Baker Loomis.  He graduated from Waterloo West High School and graduated from Gates Business College in Accounting and Business Administration.

Paul married Frances Mauser and they later divorced. He married Margaret “Meg” Stultz November 6, 1962 in Boulder, Colorado.

He worked as a draftsman at John Deere and later became a real estate broker and sold insurance as Loomis Real Estate and Loomis Insurance. He retired in 1992.

Paul was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a 50‑year member of Waterloo Masonic Lodge #105 A.F. & A.M., He was Treasurer of the Waterloo Lodge for over 25 years, a member of Scottish Rite, Knights of Pythias, El Mecca Shrine, and Hi-Twelve.  He was also a member of the Waterloo Cedar Falls Board of Realtors and Toastmasters.

Paul is survived by his wife Meg of Cedar Falls; two daughters: Shirley Main of West Allis, WI and Susan (Jim) Mapes of Ankeny, IA.  He is also survived by 4 Grandchildren: Jeff Main,  Julia (Kevin) McArthur,  Alyson Overton,  Michelle (Kenny) Loder; 6 great‑grandchildren: Joshua and Sophia McArthur, Ella and Olivia Overton, Abigail and Andrew Loder; and caregivers Ken and  Cheryl Schwake of Waterloo.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathryn B. Loomis and half‑sister Minnie I. Gates.

I have been an neighbor to the Loomis for over 5 years now and have always thought very highly of them both. I was very sorry to hear of the loss of Paul. He was an amazing man. My sympathy goes to Meg and the family.
