Margaret Young Langlas, 93, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at her home Tuesday, January 24, 2012.

Margaret Evelyn Young was born May 27, 1918 in Waterloo, the daughter of John Arthur and Gertrude Lukhart Young.

Margaret graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1936, attended the University of Colorado, UCLA, and graduated from University of Iowa with a history degree in 1941.

In raising her children, Margie instilled in them the virtues of love, respect, and commitment to one another. She took great pride in financially supporting her local community and generously helped those in need. She considered herself fortunate and humbly shared her life with many friends and family.

She is survived by her sons: Bill (Jean) Langlas, Steve (Missy) Langlas, Dave (Gini) Langlas, all of Montana; daughter Sue (Jim) Syvertson of Montana; and son Don (Julie) Langlas of Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Mrs Langlas was a business associate during the early years of my career. She continued as a friend after that. She was a gentle lady in every respect.

My sympathy to her family.

I am so sorry to hear that Margie has passed away. Having lost Jeanne just last year, I know how difficult it is to lose a mother. Margie was so involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, so I know she will be missed. Maybe she and Jeanne are now playing golf together...hope so. Please accept my thoughts and prayers.

Even though I met your lovely mother only once in Red Lodge, Mt, she left an everlasting impression on me as a very kind, refined, and compassionate lady. I know how much she meant to you and how much you will miss her. May God bless and provide comfort to you and your families. Jim, Cara, Maelyn, and Bannack Kisthard

Prayers to your family for the loss of Margi. She was a wonderful person. She has been a customer of mine since the early 80's. She was always very delightful to talk with. She lived a wonderful life, and it was obvious her family meant everything to her. May God bless your family, and Margi as she gets her wings and becomes the newest angle to look out for us.

Margi was one of our favorites from that generation. When we moved to Waterloo knowing no one, she graciously welcomed us and invited me into her tennis group. Needless to say, I don't think I ever beat her at the game! She was a funloving gal who will always be remembered with love. Our sincere sympathy - Terri and Steve Jackson
