Barbara Ann Harken Knoop, 63, of Waterloo died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.  Barbara was born March 30, 1948 in Waverly, Iowa the daughter of Gerald Herbert and Irene Mildred Holm Harken.  She graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1966.

Barbara married Terry Sheerer on December 3, 1971; they later divorced. She married John Knoop on October 6, 2000.   She worked as a lab technician for Hawkeye Photo for 10 years and Magicolor One Hour Photo for 10 years. She also worked at Meyer's Sheet Metal Works for 10 years. Barbara served as a councilwoman in Stout, Iowa from 1996 and was later elected mayor serving until 2000.

Barbara loved to read.  Family was a very important part of her life whether it was taking care of Dylan or attending the kids, grandkids, or nephews sporting events.  She volunteered at Waterloo AMVET Post 19 as well.

She is survived by her husband John of Waterloo, a daughter Lindsey (Jeremy) Kieffer of Cedar Falls, son Lucas (Emily) Sheerer of Waterloo, stepdaughter Kendra (Steve) Berry of Dewar, a stepson Troy (Sandy) BerryKnoop of Mahomet, Illinois and 6 grandchildren: Matthew (Abby) Berry, Cody Berry, Michael Knoop, Jonah BerryKnoop, Josiah BerryKnoop, and Dylan Kieffer.  Barbara is also survived by 4 Brothers: Bob (Barb) Harken of Waverly; Bill (Barb) Harken of Waverly; Charlie (Sue) Harken of Cedar Rapids; and Jerry Harken of Solon; 3 Sisters: Linda (Terry) Williams of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Janet (Tom) Withers of Waverly; and Pam (Rick) Czerwiec of Waverly; 10 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew Joseph Harken.
