Biography

Jacquelyn J. “Jackie” Dell, 82, of Waterloo died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Friendship Village Retirement Center.

Jackie was born September 12, 1934 in Lincoln, Nebraska, daughter of Theodore and Pauline Grasmick Maser. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952. She married Frederick “Bud” Dell August 30, 1953 in Lincoln. He died October 20, 2007.

Jackie worked in an elementary school office in Grand Island, Nebraska for five years before she and Bud moved to Waterloo in 1970. She then worked for the YMCA for 27 years as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1996. Jackie was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, formerly Bethel Presbyterian Church where she had been on the board of deacons and elders. She and Bud both served as chairs of the Allen Auxiliary and were members of Mended Hearts. She volunteered with Northeast Iowa Food Bank and the Salvation Army. She was a 50-year season ticket holder to Nebraska football. She enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Waterloo Women’s Golf Association.

She is survived by two sons, Doug (Cyndee) Dell of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and Fred (April) Dell of Rogers, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Tony (Megan) Dell, Kellie (Brian) Overly, Krysten, Justin and Emma Dell; nine great-grandchildren, Zoe Dell, Olivia Dell, Mia Overly, Nora Overly, Winston Overly, Isabella Hoogland, Cordelia Emery, Mercy Emery and Silas Dell; and one brother, Theodore (Sherrill) Maser, Jr. of Lincoln, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
