Biography

Michelle Marie Marquart, 49, of Waterloo, Iowa, died peacefully at her home on Friday, July 28, 2017.

She was born February 24, 1968, in Mason City, Iowa, to parents Gregory and Cyndy Johnson.
Michelle graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1986 and earned an associate degree from Hawkeye Community College.

She married her high school sweetheart William "Bill" Robert Marquart August 19, 1995, in Washburn, Iowa.

Michelle enjoyed her job as a contact lens specialist and eye technician at Mauer Eye Center.

Since starting a family at a young age, Michelle’s life happily revolved around her husband and three children. She absolutely loved being “GiGi” to her granddaughters. Michelle enjoyed attending concerts and events with Tana, as well as Friday and Saturday nights spent out with Bill and friends. She loved sharing her love of Iowa State sports with Mike, and their rivalry of his Kansas City Chiefs vs her Chicago Bears. Watching Robby become a father may have been one of her greatest joys, and the pride she had for her family is like none other.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Robby (Holly) Marquart and Mike Marquart; a daughter, Tana (Michael) Schuler; two granddaughters, Aubrey Marie Marquart and Sloane Michelle Averie Schuler; her mother, June Marquart, all of Waterloo; and her parents, Greg and Cyndy Johnson of Oregon.

Michelle is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Richard and Lois Groen.
