Biography

Nancy Jo Harvey, 55, of Waterloo, IA formerly of La Porte City, IA, died at Covenant Medical Center Saturday, July 8, 2017 of complications from cancer.

She was born June 21, 1962 in Cedar Falls, IA, the daughter of Tom and Jo Kelly Harvey.

Nancy attended Orange Elementary and graduated from La Porte City High School in 1980. She received her bachelor degree in Communications from UNI in 1986, while taking steroids after her radiation therapy.

She worked at Lattin Photography, Porter's Camera Warehouse and McKenna-McNally. Nancy also worked for the Department of Homeland Security as a TSA Agent at the Waterloo Airport.

Nancy was a member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren and involved in the Tomahawks at UNI.

Nancy enjoyed life and liked to have fun. She loved to fish, grow strawberries, fireworks on the 4th, baking sugar cookie cutouts at Christmas. She dressed in costume every Halloween and won “best costume” several times over the years. She was also the family historian spending hours doing genealogy research.

She is survived by her parents, Tom and Jo Harvey of La Porte City; sister, Tish (Isra) Harvey-Harahap of Honolulu, HI; brothers: Steve (Lori) Harvey of Waterloo, and Tom (Lori) Harvey of Boone, IA; and nieces and nephews.

June Daringer:    I am so sorry to read of Nancy's passing.  I always enjoyed being around her.  She loved garage saling and so did I.   I will remember her coming into church and tapping me on the shoulder and I was always expecting her to do that.   My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Sorry to hear about Nancy. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I will always remember the good times we had going through school in LaPorte City. I am glad we had some time to talk at our last class reunion.
