Biography

Cheryl Scholl, 69, of Waterloo, died at her home Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017.

She was born July 19, 1948, in Waterloo to Victor H. and Myrtle Kraft Scholl.

She graduated from Waterloo East High School, attended the University of Northern Iowa and later received her master's from Upper Iowa University. Cheryl began working at the Waterloo Public Library in August 1964 and continued to work there until her death. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was involved in several boards and committees including the perpetual trust fund and financial management committee. She served almost 20 years as the CWA Local Chapter vice president for the librarians union.

Cheryl is survived by several cousins; nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

    Cheryl was a friend you could always count on to land and ear, have a discussion anywhere from short to long not just about books but life in general. I will really miss her kind, witty and helpful soul. Rest In Peace Cheryl

    I will miss talking with Cheryl - or just seeing her - when I visited the library. She was a very kind and intelligent person.

    Cheryl was always welcoming and helpful to me on my frequent library visits. I will miss her, and am grateful to her service to the patrons of the Waterloo Library. My condolences to her family.

    I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Cheryl.  She was a very special person , always very pleasant and willing to help at all times.   My condolences to both her family and her library family.

    I will miss visiting with Cheryl during my visits to the library! We shared authors, titles and many pleasant conversations! I was surprised and saddened when I heard she had passed away.

    Cheryl was always so patient and kind.  She would always go out of her way for me and that is something I'll never forget.
