David Lewis Hacker 82, of Waterloo, IA died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital, Wednesday, March 28, 2018. He was born February 20, 1936 in Independence, IA to Fern Straube Hacker and Donald Hacker, and was raised by his grandparents, Charles and Minnie Straube. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1963 receiving an honorable discharge.

He married Dorothy Nissen on July 15, 1956 at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, IA.

David worked at John Deere from 1963 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his Wife, Dorothy Hacker, Waterloo; a Son, Jon (Myra) Hacker, Frederick, CO, Three daughters: Michelle (Robert) Van Riper, Waterloo, IA, Lisa (Tim) Stephan, Omaha, NE, Shauna Hacker, Waterloo, IA, nine grandchildren: Meghan (Ben) Zugg, Tyler Stephan, Jaime Hacker, Dana (Richard) Hacker, Stephanie Lyons, Kyla (Demetre) VanArsdale, KJ Ford, Alexa Gantt, and D'Andre' Gantt, four step grandchildren, four great grandchildren and thirteen step great grandchildren.

David enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
