Biography

Dawn L. Lovig Keagle, 44, of Cedar Falls went home to be with the Lord peacefully at her home with her family on Sunday, August 18, 2019.

She was born September 1, 1974 in Sioux City, Iowa, beloved daughter of Robert and Darlene (Prussman) Lovig.  She graduated from Sioux City West High School, where she was active in various sports, dance, and cheerleading.  She went on to Iowa State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology (Minor in Psychology) and met her husband Daniel J. Keagle.  Dawn and Dan were married at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames, and they lived in Colorado and Waukee, Iowa prior to moving to Cedar Falls in 2009.

Dawn worked as a counselor, in the insurance industry, and as a home daycare operator for 18 years prior to being diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma in 2013.  She battled cancer bravely for her family and friends for over 6 years, providing her boys time to mature and develop a deep relationship with their mom.  Through all her trials, her faith in Christ grew deeper and was a model of courage, love, and faith to all who were able to witness her life.

She leaves behind:  her husband Daniel Keagle of Cedar Falls, IA; Four sons: Jacob, Caleb, Lucas, and Gabriel Keagle; her parents (above); and two brothers: Eric Lovig of Sioux City, IA and Kevin Lovig of Des Moines, IA.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Robert M. Lovig; maternal grandparents, Paul and Betty Prussman; and paternal grandparents, Reuben and Mae Lovig.

We are so sad for your family. Dawn was always so kind and friendly. She has blessed the world with 4 wonderful young men. Kyran and Alacia think a lot of Caleb and Gabe as their classmates. She leaves behind a great legacy.
