Dora Mae Hausman, 99, of Waverly, Iowa, formerly of: Waterloo, Iowa, died at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community on Friday, March 8, 2019.


She was born November 21, 1919 in Waterloo, daughter of Pearl C. and Thursa Gipe Fox and graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1938. Dora Mae married Laurence H. Hausman on November 11, 1939 in Waterloo. He died February 6, 1995.


During the 1960’s she worked in the Allen Hospital Coffee Shop and was a homemaker for most of her life.


She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women, where she was very active, especially TMAC, “Tuesday Morning at Church.”


Dora Mae also helped with election polls, pursued painting and photography, traveled winters for 13 years to Texas with Laurence and especially loved being with her family and at church. She loved giving and receiving hugs; she gave the best hugs ever.


Dora Mae is survived by two daughters, Carol (Ron) Johnson, Dysart and Kathy (B. Robert) Bremner, Sumner; 6 grandchildren: Mark (Joy) Bremner, Craig (Linda) Bremner, Joel (Jennifer) Bremner, Kristen (Jim) Cayton, David (Dawnell) Johnson, and Jason (Candy) Johnson; 11 great‑grandchildren: Kirk (Morgan) and Jessica (Shane), Austin, Riley, Alexandra and Emma, Sam, Abby, Grace, Hanna and Eli; and 5 step great grandchildren: Megan and Kyle and Erin, Courtney and Emilie.


She is preceded by brothers: Walter and Kenneth Fox, and two infant sisters: Ella Mae and Lucille.

    I am so sorry for your loss. She was such a wonderful lady. 

    Dora Mae was always ready to great you with a smile and a hug!

    She use to ride to church with my parents Vernon and Ilma Ohrt.

    She was such a sweety. She will be missed very much! 

    May God hold you close in his healing hands during this diffcult time.

     I delivered medications to Dora for a few years and she was a delight to talk to.  

    Yes, we did share a hug before I went on my way!
