Jean will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held on January 2, 2020 from 4pm-7pm at Locke Funeral Home in Waterloo, IA.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean’s life.

Biography

Jean Marie (Hartley) Saner passed away unexpectedly at home on November 30, 2019 in Cedar Falls, IA at the age of 69. 

Jean is survived by her son Shelby Buhlman (Tracey), of Evansdale; daughter Rayna Allin (James), of Independence, MO; daughter Corynne Bates, of Fairbank; step children: Holly Pollard (Michael) of Norwalk; Travis Onstot (Shelby) of Indianola; two brothers: Richard Hartley Jr (Jane) of Waterloo; Steven Hartley of Austin, TX; three sisters: Melody Holbach (Dennis) of Hudson; Robin Boesen (Dave) of Waterloo; Cindy Ewing (Steven) of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren: Bryce, Dayne, Jordyn, Harper, Cassandra, Austin, Tanner and Reese. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Saner of Des Moines; her father, Richard E. Hartley, of Waterloo; and her mother, Donna M. Hartley (Nissen), of Waterloo.

Jean was born on November 19, 1950 in Waterloo, IA and graduated from West High School in 1969. Jean worked many years in the Waterloo area before moving to Des Moines in 1990 where she worked for the Iowa Department of the Blind and the Iowa Department of Agriculture. 


Jean married Nelson Saner on September 23, 1995 in Las Vegas. She enjoyed scrapbooking with friends, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling around the United States with her husband.

     Jean was an very active member of the Cedar Falls Noon Lions club. From the day she joined the Lions Club she involved herself in the Lions Club causes such as our Veterans Committee, the eyeglass and hearing aid committee, the foodbank backpack committee, and always volunteered to help on our Lions Club causes.Jean will be t Peace when she knows her family is at Peace. Thanks Jean for being a Lions Club member!
