Mariam Evelyn (Burk) Einfelt was called home, to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.  She was born on July 6, 1926 in Waterloo, Iowa to George & Thresa (Geier) Burk.  She graduated from Waterloo East High School.  Mariam was united in marriage with Kenneth Einfelt on June 29, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  She worked at the Waterloo Laundry and Chamberlin’s Manufacturing before becoming a full-time mother.  Mariam and Kenneth were blessed with three children, Kenneth Jr., Kevin, and Karen.

Mariam was the youngest of twelve children.  Family was very important to her.  There were many reunions and gatherings over the years, all with great story telling and reminiscing.

She liked to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes men and women’s basketball as well as football games, and was an avid Cubs fan.

Mariam was the rock of her family.  She drew her strength from the Lord, who she knew as her savior.  She was a long-time member of Linden United Methodist Church in Waterloo, where she was a very devoted servant to the Lord.

Mariam was a very loving, generous, caring person.  She was always there for you.  She was a go-getter and had a great sense of humor and wit.  She loved her family unconditionally and will be greatly missed!

i want to express my heart felt sympathy to Brian and Karen’s family at the loss of their wonderful mother. After reading her obituary I couldn’t help but to wish I had known her. A beacon of light reflecting her love for her Lord and Savior. A sense of peace comes with the certinty that she is in the arms of Jesus and awaits her reunion with all of you on the “other side”. Time will heal the hurt of loss and your treasured memories of her and all she has taught you will bring you through. She lives on through each of her children and grandchildren, genetics, a gift for families from our great Creator.

    Kevin and Karen,

Very sorry to hear of your mothers' passing.  Good memories of Her and your entire family from my childhood.  "Camping out in the tent with Kenny in your backyard to grilling out at your house.  Not to mention the numerous rides to school. trips around town, and shooting pool in your basement.  We certainly had a GREAT neighborhood!

Bless you all and especially Miriam for the friendliness and inclusive nature that was shown to me..

Karen,  Kevin and families.  I'm so sorry to hear of Mariam's passing.  So, so many fond memories of her.  Sledding at Gates Park, basketball games, rides to and from school, and too many more to list.   She was a wonderful lady.  Please know I'm thinking of all of you.

Kevin, so sorry to hear of your Moms passing. It was reassuring to remember her faith was so strong & her commitment to the UMC in Waterloo was so outstanding. Many fond memories of her opening up her home so we could hang out or take your 55 Chevy out for fun & adventure. Praying for you and your family.

I was so sorry to read that Mariam had passed.  I always liked her. She was such a character and I will always think of her as such. The times she would get worked up over sporting events on the TV always made me laugh. She will be missed.
