Robert Haight, 86, of Granbury, Texas, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Monday, July 10, 2017, at Harbor Lakes Nursing & Rehab in Granbury of natural causes.


He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in David City, Neb., son of Lewis and Idelle Townley Haight. He married Jean Earline Whipple.


He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a mechanical engineer at John Deere retiring after 40 years, and in 1995 was awarded the ASAE Cyrus Hall McCormick Gold.


He had served in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge with rank of second lieutenant, and had been a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waterloo.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Ronald of Texas and James of Kansas; a daughter, Laurie Simpter of Texas; two grandsons, Sean and Neil; and two brothers, Howard of Ohio and Roger of Wyoming.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister
