Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, 1519 W. 4th St and one hour before the service at the church.

Robert “Rocky” Stone, 95, of Waterloo, died Fri, Sept. 10, 2021, at Windhaven of Western Home Communities. He was born May 18, 1926, in Decorah the son of Edgar Dean and Pearl Jackson Stone.

He was a graduate of West Union High School and graduated from Barber College in Cedar Rapids.

He married Arlene E. Meyerhoff on June 14, 1953, in Readlyn; she preceded him in death on May 22, 2014.

Rocky worked as a Barber for over 60 years, owning and operating Rocky’s Barber Shop. He was past president of the Waterloo Barbers’ Union in the mid-1960s.

Survived by: one son, Doug (Martha) Stone of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Mary (Marty) Anderson of Forest City; four grandchildren, John and David Stone of Madison, WI, Amanda (Eddie) Bajric and Sarah (Andy Guild) Anderson all of Des Moines; one great-granddaughter on the way; nieces and nephews; and two cousins, Paul and Maxine Stone.

Preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Arlene, of 61 years; one sister, Barbara Smith Powell; and a niece and nephew.

Rocky cherished his wife and family, and being a Barber for over 60 years; he treasured all the friends he made along the journey.

    Very sorry to hear the passing of Rocky. When my family lived in Waterloo he was the man to see for a good haircut. Always enjoyed his stories and he was always good with kids and haircuts. rest easy and peacefully my friend.

    We are very sorry to hear about Rocky’s passing. He was a great man and a good friend. I always looked forward to his haircuts.  We will miss him.

    I am very sorry about the passing of Rocky. He was an excellent barber and always had a positive attitude. He had many stories to share and his neck massages were awesome. I am very fortunate that Rocky and I crossed paths in life. He will be greatly missed.
