Biography

Ruth Bergstrom, 73, of Waterloo, died on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Ruth was born on January 15, 1945 in Carlisle, PA, the daughter of Paul and Mary Wallace Morgan. She married Arlan A. Bergstrom on February 6, 1965 in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on December 24, 1991. She graduated from Waterloo West High then attended Pitzi's Beauty School.

She worked at the Clerk of Courts, Recorders Office, and wrote warrants for the judge in Black Hawk County. She went to Des Moines to learn about "Rocket Docket" and brought that information back.

Ruth loved watching Investigation Discovery Channel and her favorite show was Cops. She had a fantastic personality, and loved everybody, including her Yorkie. She enjoyed going to Minnesota for fishing trips with Arlan and the kids and being on her computer playing games.

Ruth is survived by her three sons, John (Kathy) Bergstrom of Mount Dora, FL, Nick (Jackie) Bergstrom of Waterloo, and Brent (Kristin Britt) Bergstrom of Aurora, CO; two daughters, Suzanne (Randy) Thome and Jennifer (Ryan Quail) McDaniel, both of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Paul Morgan; and one sister, Cindy Bird.

So sorry for your loss.  I met your mom when I started working for the court system.  She was fun to work with and I missed her when she retired.  Sandra Abben

So sorry for tour families loss. Ive known Jeni since jr high and got to know Ruth when Jeni & I were in high school. Ruth was always smiling and laughing and included me in the family. Even traveled to minnesota once with thefamily and remembered listening to air supply on the way there. :-) Ruth was a kind soul and i feel blessed having the opportunity to know her. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for my cousins.  I have so many great memories of Aunt Ruthie.  I especially loved her pea salad she would bring to Grandma and Grandpa Bergstroms.  Thinking of you all and will see you at the service.  Love you.  Deb Cowell
