Scott A. Sterrett, 49, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Scott Allen Sterrett was born January 30, 1969 in Cedar Falls the son of Steve and Teresa Hanneman Sterrett.  He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1987 and attended Scott Community College.

Scott sold cars briefly for Witham Auto, and then worked for his parents at Hudson True Value Hardware and then True Value Hardware in West Des Moines. In 2003 he went to work at Kent Feeds and was a supervisor there. Scott was also a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Cedar Falls since May of 2005.

Scott was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.  He was an avid runner participating in 23 marathons total, the Boston Marathon twice, and the Chicago and Dallas Marathons multiple times.  In addition to his passion for running, Scott had a passion for being a reserve officer with the Cedar Falls Police Department. He loved sports, especially the Cyclones, Braves, and Bears.  He loved to sit in the sun, vacation, and was also a fantastic cook.

Scott is survived by his parents of Cedar Falls; and brother, Todd Sterrett and his wife Heather of Hudson; a niece and nephew, Morgan and Drew Sterrett; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clayton and Georgia Hanneman; and paternal grandparents, Warren and Barb Sterrett.
