Biography

Thomas "Tom" William Biemann, 64, of La Porte City, died at UnityPoint Health--Allen Hospital, Waterloo on Monday, September 9, 2019.

He was born October 17, 1954, in Waterloo, son of William H. Jr. and Betty Wood Biemann and graduated from Denver High School in 1973.

He is survived by 6 sons: Matthew, Scott (Kathryn), Preston (Ashley), Camron (Lily), Dallas (Savannah), and T.J. (Ellie); 2 stepchildren: Heather Murr and Katario Roby; 13 grandchildren: Abby, Lila, Brayden, Brianna, Mya, Josie, Tyler, Michael, Monica, Malcom, Eastyn, Kaleb, and Levi; his mother; 5 sisters: Toni (Randy) Eilers, Terry (Dennis) Zaruba, Teddy (Mark) Widdel, Tracy (Michael) Dreesman, and Tammy (Randy) Dillavou; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his father; grandparents, William H. Sr. and Derothea Biemann and Walter S. and Leola Wood; a niece, Jessica Jean Eilers; 2 nephews, Adam Schneider and Evan Freeman; and a brother in law, Rick Schneider.

Tom's life revolved around the family and friends he loved. He found God in the outdoors. From his childhood, he loved to hunt and fish with his Grandpa Biemann and spend long summer days at Lake Francis with his Grandpa Wood. In high school, he excelled at football and fast cars. The outdoors was always his favorite. He was a longtime member of Whitetails Unlimited, serving many years as the chapter president. Tom was the owner of Duee's, where he would meet countless lifelong friends. In his later years, he would go on to retire as a proud union steward for Tyson's.

Tom taught his boys everything he knew - from fixing to fishing and hunting to helping. Perhaps the only thing on Earth he loved more than his mother and children, were his grandchildren. Tom was strong, determined, and proud. He was a hard worker, a prankster, an example, a teacher, a father, a friend. Above all - he loved us and we profoundly loved him.
