Biography

Thomas Weldon Walton, 79, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019, at ManorCare Health Services.

 

He is survived by three sisters, a brother, and three granddaughters. Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan (Walton) Deldon.

 

Tom was born August 4, 1940, in Waterloo, son of Weldon Walton and Lilian (Mildred) Sires Walton, and raised on a farm in Jesup, IA, then moved back to Waterloo in his teens. He owned and operated Walton Siding and Remodeling (Also known as The Tin Man) in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and surrounding area for over 40 years.

 

He was actively involved in the Bahá'í Faith for the majority of his life and served on the Waterloo Local Spiritual Assembly for many years. Tom loved to travel and frequently visited the Western States where he lived in Cedar City, UT and Tigard, OR for about seven years before returning to Waterloo five years ago.

    Oh Tom, how I've missed you and adored you. I've also enjoyed talking to about dancing and the Baha'i Faith. I always felt I could talk to you about anything. The memories we created with United As One is something I will remember for my whole life. 

    Thank you for donating that awesome sound system. It really helped with our performances. I will miss you my friend.

    Loving prayers are offered for Tom's passage to the Ocean of Light. Precious memories of our family's time in Iowa when Tom created the Dance Workshop and encouraged youth to perform in schools, churches, and public venues on issues of race, poverty,and equality. Alla'u'abha Dear Friend.
